At Skiviez, it’s been a summer of blood, sweat, and tears, but last week we rolled out an updated version of the men’s underwear authority’s Web site. We’ve worked hard to come up with a clean design and feature set that gets out of the way and puts the products that our customers want first. We wanted to make sure that every change was for our customers, not ourselves, so every improvement has had our customers in mind. Here’s a quick overview of what’s new:
WOW! Customer-submitted review images!
Customers have told us again and again that they find the customer-submitted reviews on our Web site to be helpful, especially since Skiviez is renowned for letting our dirty laundry hang out to dry: if a customer submits a 1-star review, we’ll post a 1-star review. It’s a simple as that.
But you wanted more. We heard you. Our customers can upload images of themselves in the products that they’ve purchased, leaving little doubt as to how the product looks in the real world. Images uploaded are subject to moderation, of course–we can’t let you let all of the naughty bits hang out–but we look forward to the opportunity that this feature provides for our burgeoning underwear community at Skiviez.
This is a brand new feature, so if you have an idea as to how it can be improved, give us feedback! Just send an e-mail over to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll consider it for a future release of the Web site. In the meantime, talk to each other by leaving a review. We make it quick and easy via the “Reviews” tab in “Your Account.”
An easier-to-navigate product catalog
Our previous Web site served us well, but it was beginning to show its age. You couldn’t quickly filter by what sizes were in stock, some of the brand pages could get very large, and it was easy to “lose your place” on the page. We heard you.
Now it’s easier than ever to quickly drill down to the products in our catalog that you’d like to see. Want to see just products that have mediums in stock? Just click the “M” link. Want to see only closeout items? Just click the “Closeout” link. In just a few clicks, you can navigate our entire product catalog quickly and easily.
As before, you can sort by a wide variety of metrics, including our top sellers and our highest rated items.
Enhanced product images
As one of our long-time customers put it, “your product search slideshow is annoying.” We heard you.
Some people like to zoom in on images by clicking on them, others like to use a virtual magnifying glass, and still others like to open images in a new browser tab for an even closer look. The new Skiviez Web site now supports all three image browsing methods. Just hover, left-click, or middle-click your way to a closer view of the products that we carry.
A streamlined quick search
Our Web site has supported an advanced quick search in the upper right corner of the screen for some time, but now it’s better than ever. Customers found the arrangement of search results as returned by the previous Web site to be confusing and jumbled. We heard you. We’ve grouped them together to make them easier to understand.
The search is also lightning fast. Know the manufacturer’s number, UPC, or SKU of the item you’re looking for? Just enter it into that search box, and you’re sure to find what you’re looking for faster than you can say “that was fast!” The search box searches brands, styles, lines, products, and even this blog!
A stream-lined checkout process
We’re still not done. Nothing ruins the e-commerce shopping experience like a long, drawn out checkout process. How many pages is it going to be? What are all of my options? I’ve checked out before, why do I have to enter all of my information again? We heard you and made the checkout process faster and easier than ever before.
Everything is contained on a single page, and for returning customers, the checkout process is especially quick because all fields–billing address, shipping address, and your payment method–will be set to your account’s preferred defaults.
We’ve also made improvements that streamline the process for PayPal Express Checkout and Google Checkout customers. With so many ways to pay so quickly, along with our legendary same-day shipping for orders placed before 3 p.m. Eastern, there’s no reason you can’t have your next favorite pair of underwear on its way today!
Improved international address handling
Our foreign customers are no strangers to running across a US-based Web site. It means a hassle-filled checkout process full of “N/A”s, “my country code doesn’t have postal codes”, and “state or province not recognized.” We heard you. Our new Web site now uses customized address validation and formatting for all of the countries that we ship to.
It’s not one of the sexiest features, to be sure, but it shows our everlasting commitment to all of our customers. Our international customers will especially appreciate it: no more confusing error messages about required fields!
One-stop parcel tracking and returns
And when that pair of underwear is on its way, you can track it and all of your other recent orders via Your Account on our Web site. You complained that it was a pain to fumble for the FedEx tracking or USPS delivery confirmation number in your shipment confirmation e-mail. We heard you. With the new Skiviez Web site, we’re truly a one-stop shopping (and shipping!) destination.
In the rare event that you’d like to make a return or exchange, we make it easy to print out a return form via Your Account. No hassle with RMA numbers, no numbers to call, just print it and ship it!
